  NOT BAD.....

I was put onto this band by a freind who has listened to them for a while now and i decided to give them a go. The result was a mixed one. There are a few great tracks on this album and some not so great ones as well. The biggest problem i had personally with the album(and some people might think this a stupid observation!) was that although the band hail from america,i found them to be just too american in there sound. Im a big fan of many american bands but, with the exception of a few great tracks, these guys really arent for me. I suppose in the end it all comes down to personal taste.

  little masterpiece

Highly enjoyable album, with some already classic hits on it, tunes that keep spinning in your head, a lot of feelgood music.... But don't be fooled by this impression: Read the lyrics and you'll also find some really tough emotional themes in it. As can and should be expected from e.
Well done, another favourite album delivered by eels.

There isn't much I can add to the last reviewer really. A wonderful album full of classic songs. I can guarantee if you haven't heard this album before then all it will take is one listen and at least one song will be permanently on your i-pod (or other generic MP3 player). And at this price (£2.99 at time of writing this) you can't go wrong. In fact go and buy the entire catalogue of albums as they are mostly all at £2.99 at the moment.

Daisies Of The Galaxy is simply out of this world...

I'm hoping that someone is reading this right now, as it may be because you are showing some interest in buying this CD. Well buy it, just buy it right now. This is a marvelous album. A sweet, with a sombre, sometimes rock background, again showing off E's talent, resulting in another testament to his writing and the bands musicianship from the very beginning to it's end.
As with all Eels records, you get more than what you expect, and this is no different. Just when you thought you were on a dreamy journey of beautiful strings and sliding guitars, you get the bold and exciting I Like Birds & Flyswater thrown in to mix things up a bit. By then it's back to the more downbeat tracks before finishing with the radio friendly Mr E's Beautiful Blues - which as is said on the sleeve, a hidden track.
I cannot recommend this enough, simply fabulous rock/pop music, with touches of blues, country, and some electronic tweaks here and there. Eels done it superbly well again with Daisies Of The Galaxy, and they continue to do it today.
In my mind, Eels never receive the exposure to the public they so richly deserve, but then again maybe that's a good thing as it feels more personal to those of us who know and love them.
If you are going to buy this, you might want to check out Electro Shock Blues, Blinking Lights And Other Revelations , Useless Trinkets, Beautiful Freak (go read their reviews) but heck you can buy anything Eels have produced and not be disappointed.
Quite possibly the most underrated band, quite possibly the greatest songwriter since...Lenn...dare I say it!!!
