Who gave a mere 4 stars? This should get 6!

This is one of the best rock albums of all time and the best Pixies LP by a mile. Even 5 stars are not enough. "Debaser" is so good it hurts, and although it is the most spectacular song on this album this does not mean the other songs are not impressive.

 A Dirty/Gorgeous Beautiful/Harsh Collection

As inventive as it is distructive, this album literally screams at you to come back for more.

Starting with the disjointed but uplifting "Debaser" and swiftly sweeping through "Tame", "Wave of Mutilation" and "I Bleed" which are all catchy but laced with the grimy pulse that runs through this album.

By the time you reach "Monkey Gone To Heaven" it almost feels like it's a different album, with the middle tracks providing brief respite before plunging you into the second half.

"La La Love You", "There Goes My Gun" and "Hey" are joyous classics, all slightly reminiscent of the 60's surf style of rock'n'roll but with a much darker underbelly. The contrast of upbeat, twangy guitars and pained, emotive vocals should serve as a message to teeny Emo bands: "This is how emotive lyrics should be delivered!".

All-in-all a truly unmissable collection of tracks and possibly the best album the Pixies produced.

 Everything has to start somewhere...

...Grunge...alternative rock...indie rock....it all started with the pixies, and more importantly with this album. It is truly a king amongst princes. The songs are short, but beautifully crafted, with a unique balance of tenderness and rage...you must own this!!

 Amazing album!!

Pixies are an unfortunately forgotton group from the American alternative scene. If you like Nirvana, you'll like Pixies poppier sound. Listen carefully to the songs and you'll realise that Nirvana really aren't that original. A lot of their tracks are just varients of Pixies materials.

This album delivers from start to finish, featuring great songs 'Here Comes Your Man, Debaser, Monkey Gone to Heaven' and 'Wave of Mutilation'. The other songs aren't to be missed either.

You can listen to this record over and over again and is guranteed to have a treasured place in your music collection
