As inventive as it is distructive, this album literally screams at you to come back for more.
Starting with the disjointed but uplifting "Debaser" and swiftly sweeping through "Tame", "Wave of Mutilation" and "I Bleed" which are all catchy but laced with the grimy pulse that runs through this album.
By the time you reach "Monkey Gone To Heaven" it almost feels like it's a different album, with the middle tracks providing brief respite before plunging you into the second half.
"La La Love You", "There Goes My Gun" and "Hey" are joyous classics, all slightly reminiscent of the 60's surf style of rock'n'roll but with a much darker underbelly. The contrast of upbeat, twangy guitars and pained, emotive vocals should serve as a message to teeny Emo bands: "This is how emotive lyrics should be delivered!".
All-in-all a truly unmissable collection of tracks and possibly the best album the Pixies produced.
