Everything which failed to make Hysteria, but still gold.

Retro Active is not a new album, nor is it an old Def Leppard record. Instead it's a collection of B-sides and other tracks floating around inside the Def Leppard vault which may not have made it to disc until now. As such, the album's a mash-up between 2 eras, the 1980s and the 1990s. Some decent tracks, and acoustic versions such as '2 steps behind' make some interesting listening. There's still much hard rock on this album, Action and Ring of Fire are 2 excellent examples. The consistency and blending between tracks (especially 'Fractured Love' and 'Action') is notably superb. New fans of Def Leppard should consider Pyromania or Hysteria but die-hards will appreciate Retro Active as a rare collection of unheard and never-released material which may not have made the major albums.
