I am a big fan of Slipknot and was particularly impressed by Stone Sour's debut album back in 2002. Tracks like Get Inside and Inhale were instant classics.

The follow up album, Come Whatever May, landed in 2006 and was a step up in quality - a consistent quality. Many tracks remained heavy and 30/30-150 just blew me away as a single.

Come 2010 and Stone Sour have followed up with Audio Secrecy. It was always destined to be a success after the passing of the legendary Paul Gray. However, this album neither sounds like Slipknot (not that they ever did apart from some obvious similarities in Corey's voice) nor Stone Sour. It is something else entirely - a much more mellow and reflective offering that I am afraid left me cold. Some people will like this a lot and it may well award them mainstream success but it is not album of the year.

This in my opinion this is Stone Sours best work so far, Audio Secrecy takes you on a journey through various emotions and you can really feel the bands passion for the inspiring music they are performing. There will be criticism thrown at this album however with such comments as "Same Sound" or "Too soft" but people have to remember this is not Slipknot and it wouldn't be worthwhile if it was just like Slipknot, Stone Sour have definitely created there own style and it has evolved into something fantastic, I mean truly exceptional . The single Say You'll Haunt Me is inspired and has really set up this album for greatness. This album also definitely caters for all as there are several heavier sounding tracks such as Mission Statement and Unfinished which will blow you away and there are also softer tracks such as Dying and Hesitate which are epic sounding. The final point I will make on this album is the value that you get with this you not old get the album you get, three bonus tracks, member ship to the bands exclusive website membership which I believe usually costs and you also get a DVD with a fairly long documentary which is extremely interesting for music nerds like myself that love to see there favourite bands at work. All for a great price of 8.95.
My rating for this album is as follows:
Vocals 5/5
Guitar Sound/Tones 5/5
Drumming 5/5
Solos 5/5
Lyrics 5/5
Overall 5/5
Just buy it. The best sound I have heard in years.

Seriously there's not much to say that hasn't been said. It really is that good. Corey's voice is amazing! Best CD I've bought all year and that's above Parkway Drive and 36 Crazyfists!

 OMG THIS IS AMAZING

A must listen, from start to finish, a brilliant album.
I've had it on repeat since buying it, and just can't get bored of it.
I'd say its a grower, but its great from first play.
Seeing the band live in November, and can't wait to hear a few of these tracks played!

Not bad but not as good as come whatever

This is album is good however there are a lot of melodic slower songs with it. Such as Hesitate. I was hoping for a album similar to their last one with some really heavy brilliant tracks. Dont get me wrong the songs say you'll haunt me and mission statement are incredible but most of the others are just sort of the same. So not bad but for a four year wait not worth it.

 Two words- Buy it!

Ok, i can't elaborate anymore on what has already been said in the previous reviews. The album, i think, is not as aggressive as the previous album but still has that perfect combination of songs to cater for the mellow music/ loud music set of people.
As said, buy it! you won't be disappointed.

There's nothing secret about how talented and impressive this band are; and this album is a true document of just that. They clearly collaborated together on this one; the drumming surpasses anything done before and the writing has a much more mature feel to it. It's not as uptempo as their other material but it's all the better for it. Focus here is on writing and there's underlying themes that tie the whole thing together and it's a really great experience. Fans and those new to Stone Sour will both be surprised by it. It has something for everyone and should be recognised as the best album of the year.
