What Happened Linkin Park??

I "aquired" this album early and i think that they have completely ruined there whole original idea. The great thing about early Linkin Park was their ability to balance great guitar many different vocal styles with rapping and scratching which has now completely disapeared. Theres little to no"screaming" on this album, which may be a good thing for you if that was what you didnt like about LP before.

To me they've now turned into an average pop/rock band and lost all their unique styles.

 Not my Linkin Park!

Linkin Park have been around for a over a decade and to think that a band would not try to evolve their sound in this time would be naive. Every album LP have released to date has shown a slight change in direction (without even mantioning the Jay-Z mash ups and Re-animation). To this point i have enjoyed every relaease and apreciated the new direction they have tried to take, I even enjoyed the maturity shown in "Minutes to Midnight".
Unfortunatly "A Thousand Suns" is a step too far in a direction I am not all that interested to explore. Don't get me wrong, The songs on this album are well made and have clearly had a lot of time and emotion spent on them. I appreciate this and respect the effort but this album does not represent what i have come to love from LP over the years, There is not a single song on this album that I would say is a Rock or Nu Metal song. I have given the Album 2 full listens through and although some of the songs are good, they are not Linkin Park. I dont know why they have decided to change so drastically but they seem to be sacrificing heavy rifts and awesome tunes for relaxed melodies and "hidden meanings". It honestly feels like they are taking their music too seriously.

I think in the future we will see a different type of Linkin Park fans, exchanging Mosh Pits for MTV awards

Terrible, They should rename the band

I've been a massive fan of Lp since the start and buying this cd was an obligation. I hadn't heard any previews but still had high expectations but right from the start a total dissappointment, If I didn't know it was LP I would find it hard to believe it was them, Most of the other reviews say the sound is very different but for me too much so and not my cup of tea so I only give it one star.

 "were not making an album"

If you read inside, Linkin Park is telling us that this "Album" is a test to see if they can bring better music with better sounds in a future album. For example in the song "Blackout"... Chester sounds as if he is having a fit...lol... but it sounds amaizing just like all the other songs and i think Linkin Park have taken a big step by doing this and i think it has turned out awesome and i give them a big thumbs up for doing so.. P.S.... LP = BEST BAND EVER!

The results of trying to be too clever

Lets be honest, every band needs to be creative, develop and push the envelope, especially 5 albums in otherwise people will get board. However this album seems to be the results of trying too hard to do something different without really asking the question will people really want to listen to this more than once. I'm sorry i've listened to it twice and won't listen to it again.....ever.

Not one decent rock riff in this one. lots of samples, girlie harmonies, keyboards and clips of political speeches create something quite melodramatic and uncomfortable.

At best all you can say is that this will divide audiences, in reality it could well lose half their fan base.

The most disappointing album in a long long time.
