After buying their first album I was aware that some bands struggle to improve for a second album. Kyrbgrinder have not only improved, they have produced a fantastic metal album that should be in any rock music fans collection. This solid three-piece really can deliver the goods. With so much media hype about bands these days it can be a disapoinment when you hear all the album, but there is no media behind this band they've come up the hard way and the quality stands out.

Power. Bombast. Subtlety. Accuracy. Holy cow!

This album starts with an incredible barrage of metallic awesomeness, with the lead track Cynical World providing a multi-movement piece of modern metal opera that screams for more and more volume. At the heart of the band is the drummer and vocalist Johanne James who performs both tasks with power and aggression, and yet the singing is punctuated with thoughtful and thought-provoking lyrics. Even though a stunning frontman, Johanne is backed up with powerful guitars with nuanced subtleties as well as screaming wails and a solid bass which kick out loud powerful refrains. 'Don;t be so cold' shows off Johanne's soulful voice and yet the metallic grind of 'My Heart Bleeds' shows the band's ability to get down and dirty. 'People of the free world 'shows a political message that has to out itself and yet 'Where do we go from here ' speaks to every trapped soul.
