Firstly lets get the errors out of the way. This is an 8 CD collection comprised of his first seven albums, The River was a double album.
I first discovered Bruce Springsteen when I was about ten and my brother through a copy of The River at me, "you want this, it's rubbish?"
Having no means of income I was happy to take any album that was free, but thinking it was rubbish it took me a few days to actually listen to it, however when I did my whole life changed. I discovered that The River was not only anything but rubbish it was the album that would change my life. Within a year I would own all of Springsteen's albums, and since that day I have listened to Bruce at least weekly for the last thirty years.
And this collection represents a re-birth for Bruce's early material. Not since they were available on vinyl has the Boss sounded so good or allowed to sonically run so free.
There is too much material on these seven albums to give a comprehensive review of each, so all I will say is this should be the starting point for any youngster wanting to learn how good ol' fashioned Rock should sound, and it should be a mantle piece for any fans of Bruce already kicking around these shores.
This is the Boss how he is supposed to sound!
