- Emerging from the middle of nowhere
- in 1999, Slipknot have become a Heavy Metal phenomenon in the space of just 5 years. Already hailed as a landmark in Metal music, their self-titled debut has since sold over 250,000 in the UK alone while their second album 'Iowa' made an even bigger impact. Heavier and even more uncompromising, it debuted in the UK album charts at Number 1, shipping Gold on release, and was followed by a sold-out UK Arena tour. Following successful side-projects in 2002 (Corey & Jim with Stone Sour, Joey with The Murderdolls), Slipknot regrouped, refreshed and re-energised for album number three - `Vol 3:The Subliminal Verses' . Undoubtedly their most accomplished and commercial album, `Vol 3. has continued to command the allegiance of countless 'maggots', again scoring them a UK Gold album and their highest charting single to date - the barnstorming `Duality'.

If you're reading this review then you evidently don't have the album yet. Why. Why don't you already have it? This album is more of a rite of passage than a collection of songs.
Songs like 'The Blister Exists', 'Pulse of the Maggots', 'Three Nil' and 'Before I Forget' are so brutal they will make your toes curl, whilst 'Circle' and 'Vermillion Pt II' can bring a tear to your eye. Each song is a perfectly crafted musical masterpiece. Stop thinking about it and buy it now.
Ignore the Gimmick

Forget about the masks and merchandise, this album is a genuine metal masterpiece. Bizarre time signatures while they hammer you and deep darkness whenever the brutality eases. A must for any metal connoisseur. Why haven't you already got it?!
