Madonna has always been used to give her fans spectacular shows with an amazing mixing of a good tracklist, beautiful coreographies, fun, colors, the right lights and a great mood, but this is by far the best Madonna's show ever.
Great effects and scenographies really well melted with the goals of the concert that is to give an amusig two hours together with social messages.
From the first seconds to the last it is really difficult to get bored or take away the eyes from the video.
The show consists of mainly four parts.
In the first part we get introduced to the new songs, beginning with "Future Lovers" and going on with "Get Together" and the breathless acrobacies of the dancers in "Jump" intercalated with a beautiful revisitation of "Like A Virgin".
The second part is, to me, the most beautiful of it all. The "Confessions" section is totally dedicated to some of the greatest social problems of our world, the astonishing new arrangement of "Live To Tell" together with the scenario, images and words shown on the back panels of the stage create a really emotional moment.
In this part, other songs such as the new "Isaac", "Forbidden Love" and "Like It Or Not" find their real voice and soul, cealed behind an overproduced sound in the album.
The "Confessions" section closes with the beautiful "Sorry Remix" that's melt in a very efficient way with social "accusing" images and video. Whatever political alignment could be a person who watches it, will find this part of the show really involving and well centered on the themes.
The third part opens up with Mrs Ciccone at the guitar in a rocambolesque spiral that will lead through the rock-y version of "I love New York" (maybe my least favourite on the "Confessions on a dance floor" album but really gorgeous on this live) to the melodic and wonderful "Drowned World/Substitute For Love" and "Paradise (Not for me)".
The last tranche of the show leads the audience to the amazing remix of "Music", with dancers that "fly" all around on lilac roller-skates and a personal Madonna's tribute to John Travolta's character "Tony Manero" of the "Saturday Night Fever" movie. An astonishing explosion of lights, never being excessive, but always well mixed.
Other notable moments are the breathtaking version of "Erotica" with a wonderful ballet, the amusing "La Isla Bonita" and an always fresh and delighting "Lucky Star".
The show closes with the lead single of the new album, "Hung Up", never letting the audience look away, every minute is worth to be watched.
An issue to point to is the great steps in the quality and control of the voice Madonna has gained over the years.
The only playback tracks are "Future Lovers", "Sorry" and "Lucky Star" and beyond the fact that sometimes the voice has to endure the obvious decreases caused by the physical efforts of the ballets, never gets bad.
Well, although I know she's never been a "Whitney Houston" and I'm aware of the fact that Madonna has to be approached as a whole, a showgirl, a dancer but not a fabulous one, a singer but not a fabulous one, and so on, I also feel the need of considering that I'm evaluating a musical product.
So I give only four stars to this item. Maybe one of the best shows (in the widest sense of the word) you can see these times, but certainly not the best live performance around.
Besides this considerations, this DVD/CD is absolutely a must have. Gorgeous, astonishing, a two hours amazing ride.
Madonna Totally Rocks!!!! ( no matter how old )

I was lucky enough to see this tour twice, once in London and in Paris. The sexy siren showed she could still shake her booty as good if not better than her rivals! Her voice is in good shape too. The visuals in the show are mind blowing, not to mention her dancers.
This is a Journey worth taking, I'm sure the next tour will be even better.
By far the best tour dvd you will ever see in your life!

From the opening title sequence to the rolling credits Madonna's Confessions Tour dvd will wow you! Whether you like the older Madonna albums or prefer the more upto date albums you will love it, as she covers a brief musical history of her albums in a 120 minute show. The dancers and stage set up is amazing. A very energetic concert, but you wouldn't expect anything less from the Queen of Pop!
