Not Quite the Best...

The eye-candy cover suggests an album of bright, colourful and breezy pop songs and, by and large, that's exactly what 'The Best Damn Thing' delivers. It also brings an abrupt halt to the progression promised by the previous, darker in tone album, 'Under My Skin'. Avril certainly throws herself into this with energy and enthusiasm and the results are uplifting. Most people will probably be familiar with the various singles and these are fairly representative of the album as a whole. However, other standout tracks include Runaway, Contagious and the epic power-ballad, Keep Holding On. A good album which will appeal mainly to teenagers and nostalgic 20-somethings who still regard Avril's first album as her best damn thing!!!
Seriously good!!!

Before I purchased this CD I didn't really think much of her songs since she has also appeared as a typical teenage girl. I decided to buy this album to see what has changed: everything! She has progressed into a woman and I love every song on this album! Get this if you haven't already!!!
Good Album

This is a really great album. I think her second best behind Let Go. I think some of the songs are abit popish which I don't like. 9/10.
Awesome!

Okay so if you're one of those people that cling on to an artists "original style" then you wont like it, if you are pen minded enough to realise that part of the development of music is the development of artists and their music too then you should like it. I love this album, a song for every mood :) listen to it!
So-so.

It's ok-the first three songs are dire, she is basically just yelling into the microphone and they lack any sort of rythm whatsoever. It picks up after that though with 'Hot' and 'Innocence' perhaps the best two tracks, more reminiscent of her old style. 'Keep holding on' is also fairly good, and overall the six or so good tracks are enough to carry this album out of being poor into merely mediocre. Dissapointing considering her previous efforts, but worth a listen.
great

This album is not the best. Avril has changed her style to suit the boarder market of "popular music". which unfortunatly is not that good! But there are some good classic avril songs on here such as i can do better and everything back but you. overall this album isnt bad but avrill fans will be a little dissapointed as she seems to be after a new following.
criminal contradiciton

as a fan im let down by this. avrils become a total contradition of what she used to stand for, in terms of music and style. this album is very cheerleader to me and sounds more poppy than punky. its got some good songs, i can do better is cool. but i wouldnt go doing cartwheels about this album. its definetly not as good as let go or under my skin.
She CAN do better!

Despite the build-up, this is a disappointing album. 'Girlfriend' was a surprise, I expected something much more grown-up, considering the fact she's just got married! When Your Gone is probably the best out of the album. Avril's first and second albums much better and ironically, more mature. I think she's stuck in this teeny-bopper world, when what fans really want to see is something different after these past few years on the music scene. A good attempt, but nothing to write home about.
