After winning X Factor in 2008, Alexandra has gone on to do great things. Three number 1's and a double platinum number 1 album as well as working with big names such as Ne Yo, Pitbull and even having Bruno Mars write her a song.
Alexandra re-releases her Overcome album a year after it's release with 4 new songs and remixed versions of All night Long and The Silence. But the remix to The Silence is barely any different.
Featuring the singles Hallelujah, Bad boys, Broken Heels and All night long as well as the new song Start Without You. Overcome is full of a great r&b dance tracks as well as the odd ballad reminding us of Alex's fantastic vocals. The original album i felt was an Ok effort from her. However the four new songs really push the album to a new level
Start Without has a slight reggae vibe, What happens on the dancefloor has a european dance flow while Before It Rains and the gorgeous Perfect show Alexandra at her best. Alexandra pulls off both dance and ballads fantastically well and fills in the gap we needed for a Black British R&B Female to do.
While the tabloids and fuss still remain on JLS, listen to this album and be reminded why the public chose Alexandra Burke as the eventual winner. While she may not move us to tears like Leona, Alexandra has very rightly made her place in the British charts and I can't wait to see where she goes next.
