I have listened to all of Within Temptation's other albums, this is definately my favourite. Heard Faster on Planet Rock and her voice on that song is incredible. It is a change in direction, but I love it! Just shows what a fantastic band they are! My favourites on this album are A Demon's fate, Shot in the Dark and Faster. A must buy for any Rock fan!
Great CD. DVD has brilliant stories linking the music and the Comic book perfectly.
Definately a must buy!!
For those 'fans' declaring that Within Temptation have sold out, you all really need to get a grip. Bands develop over time creating music that they enjoy performing and that mean something personal to them as musicians and individuals. Why is it that when a band like Within Temptation create a master piece of an album that thousands of people appreciate as a work of art, they are then accused of being 'too commercial'. Surely you should be happy that they have found success instead of feeling sorry for yourself that the band you discovered is no longer underground.
Ok rant over- lets get down to the music!
It is rare to have a strong female front in the metal industry but Sharon picks up the flag for the ladies and continues to deliver beautiful vocals alongside the intricate instrumental. This is obvious on the single Faster which happens to be one of my favourite tracks off the album. Fire and Ice is also a stand out track- Ethereal and magical building to a powerful climax. Right on the money.
The concept album as a whole is fantastic and fans are treated to a comic and dvd of short films- once again evidence that WT stick to what they believe in. You are truly spoilt with this package.
Not quite as dark or as haunting as some of their other stuff, HOWEVER with Sharon's voice beautiful as ever- and suitably epic music by the rest of the band- This album DEFINATELY keeps to Within Temptation's uniquely celestial ambience- the quality that drew me to their music originally :P Well worth a listen!
Ever since hearing 'What Have You Done' on MTV I was a fan. This is what Evanescence should and could have been. The Heart of Everything was a Great Album full of darkness and metal. Previous albums were probably more Gothic in nature, although not compared to other similar bands like Epica. I sometimes yearn for Mother Earth and the Neverending Story but I think those times are gone. The Rock in this album seems to be driver from decades past, which is not a bad thing in my opinion. This is more mainstream than other albums, but the tracks on here and great and recognise that WT will go from strength to strength.
