Grows - and grows and grows

Not as immeadiately arresting as the first album, this one however seems to have more long term resonance and depth. Addressing universal existential themes about mans place in the world, it echoes biblical language and old time sensibilites while being more musically adventerous than their debut. Although it perhaps does not have the stand-out "favourites" that the first album presented to more casual listeners, it works better as a whole, creating a rich tapestry of both sound and stories that will provide another brick in what one would expect, will be Fleet Foxes lasting legacy. Absolutely stone-cold worth purchasing. A triumph.

just watched three tracks off the album on later with jools,no questions this is as good as the first album better well only time will tell ,lets let history deide that.

 Bland and repetitive.

Sadly this album is a right old mess. There is not a single track that i remember or care for even slightly after a good few listens to the album.

I know its only may but this is the worst and most depressingly dull cd i have listened to in many years.

Best album of 2011 so far

If you liked their previous album, you'll like this even better. I've heard that most of the songs were ready by the time they recorded their first album, but after the success of that one they recorded them again. Probably a good idea, because this album is much more mature and even more beautiful. Goosebumps guaranteed.

 As good as the first!

It took a couple of listens but there are some stand out classics here including Bedouin Dress, Sim Sala Bim, Lorelai and Grown Ocean. It manages to be both similar and different to the first album, with trademark harmonies and acoustic guitars blending with changing chord progressions and experimentation with new instruments, especially on The Shrine'An Argument. Well worth a listen!
