Been waiting for this for a long time. There are a lot of mixed vocal metal bands around at the moment, but what sets Amaranthe apart is that there are three completely different vocalists and they all share the vocals pretty evenly which in my experience is quite rare, the female lead tending to dominate.
All the tracks are strong. The sound borders on power metal at some points. I think its been somewhat harshly described as 'prom metal' in relation to other bands, but I think the sound here is more diverse.
If there was one criticism it would be that it sounds over-produced. The 'recorded in a bedroom' sound that some of the pre-production tracks, notably Hunger, had was arguably better than the produced album version.
All-in-all an excellent album.
