say and think what you want, but the beastie boys are still the only real 'white' old school hip hop band on the scene: true to the game, original and authentic. mark that because it would be so easy for them to make a move to the more commercially branded hip hop of today and hit mainstrem, but they simply don't. my respect!

Amazing. It's got all the funk and production brilliance of the early 90's stuff plus a bit of bonus MMM. Other than a fair few 80's electronica sounding bits this album sounds much like the stuff on "Check Your Head". The production is brilliant, lots of the old distorted vocals and effectws added into the mix. The music is funky, with some Reggae style and (unfortunately for some) the return of some Punk. Lyrics are great, even in the slightly more serious numbers. I love that these guys are nearly 50, white and Jewish and they still make the best hip-hop around.
The only slight warning is the mastering. I love it and i think it really adds to the album but for the most part it sounds like it was all mastered near the reds. Lots of slight distortion over the whole album but this is not added before master, it's just the tracks all clipping. Obviously this was an artistic choice and works in the album's favour but it may upset people who like their music to sound clean and modern.
Anyway, BUY IT if you like them. and BUY IT if uoi've never heard them.
Great album!
