Especially good when played very loud. I'm looking forward to Wish you were here next month too!

The Live versions are of a remarkably good quality too.

 Yet another version!

So here we go again, reselling the same albums to fans like me that will always buy them. I already have 6 copies of DSOTM are, never mind how many LP versions I have had, including 180g versions from Japan!
So lets start with the bad.
The repackaged version package is no where near the quality of mini LP style there released a few years back, which very closely match the original alums in not only looks, but texture. These are almost just card and very flimsy at that. I not even sure the single CD version has a booklet!
The CD is also very plain, with none of the original labelling style etc. All in all, very cheap looking!
The start of the CD's heat beat has a lot of original tape noise, I guess this is because the music range has been expanded to open the instruments up and give more dynamics, so this is probably a good thing, in an odd way!
Now for the good.
The recording is very open with much more space around the instrument and the bass is much firmer. The heart beat that runs through in the background is more defined. (I bet some have never noticed it) Plus, have you ever heard the music at the very end in the dying seconds of the heart beat, this is Beatles Ticket to Ride in Muzak style, this is very clear in this version. Have a close listen to your copy, it is there!
So would I buy it, of course, I am a Floyd fan and the recording is very good, plus a fantastic live version.
So don't waste your money on the single CD version, buy the Experience 2 CD Version, as the remastered live version is the best I have heard and worth buying it for this CD only!
I guess I will be buying the DSOTM box set next!!

 Beautiful remastered (yet again) classic

The original album never sounded bad on CD so many have rightfully questioned the reasons for remastering the classic Floyd album. I personally have four versions of the album on compact disc alone now, I'm hard pressed to find it any different than my 2004 SACD (though that had a 5.1 mix, and the new does not). The changes are subtle and mostly atmospheric in nature bringing beautiful clarity, crispness, and transparency to the old arrangements. The bass is exceptionally deep on this new version and the whole thing just sounds wonderful!
The bonus CD, alone, is worth the upgrade - the album by itself? I must say that depends largely to what previous version you have...
