the tracks on this CD cover a creative period of Lofgren's when Springsteen was still breaking through in the UK. I think Lofgren is the unsung hero of American AOR if you're into that. His lyrics are cleverer than 'the bosses', his guitar playing I think is far superior and Lofgren celebrates his blues roots and love of ballards openly whilst still rocking it out. The final track is an oft forgotten gem from the mid 70s and still stands the test of time. Back it up is a damn good shouting anthem type of song, the only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because 'Sailor Boy' was left off the collection and there are better songs on his albums. As a good starting point for the music of Lofgren you can't go far wrong and at this price (currently in the 3 for £10 section) you can't go wrong. If you like good guitar songs you'll love Lofgren Buy it, play it loud, enjoy it.
