I must admit I wasn't prepared for this. I'd recently seen Little Johnny England perform several acoustic sets at Folk On The Pier in Cromer and wasn't exactly impressed. Well, that's all taken back as this album is rather tasty sounding uncannily like the original Albion Country Band circa Battle Of The Field. I can't get the image out of my head of the band being led vocally by Steve Knightley although in fact the band have P J Wright on lead vocals ably supported by Gareth Turner (melodeons), Guy Fletcher (fiddle/percussion), Mat Davies (bass/mandolin) and Edd Frost (drums). I'm still not sure about the cajun style workouts even though I can see these going down a storm at gigs but more please of songs like 'Johnny England' or 'Maybe'. If you enjoy English folk-rock you'll enjoy this.
