this lp is amazin stuff, for all you metal fans worldwide take note of this candian band, the music is so much of the roots of the 80s but for some reason ANVIL have not been reconised for wot they deserve. the band have been together for over a quarter of a century, i love this cd i love their music, as said before if u like heavy metal at least listen to the mighty ANVIL, they have played along side bon jovi twisted sister and so on, this and the rest is a cd i highley reccomend,

 80's Metal at its best.

Its such a shame they havent got the recognition that they deserve, although at the moment I am not willing to pay the 11.99, I do hope in future, that I get it.

All they need is a top 40 hit, a decent world tour, and some recognition for all their hard work. Also, they need a good record deal, after all, if you can't get their record on decent sites like this, then it willl hinder sale. Anyway, Buy It!

 They were even better live!

I saw them live in Leeds on two occasions back in 1983 - once supporting Motorhead, and also at a mini-festival with Saxon, Twisted Sister and a few other bands. Both shows were great; several of the songs on this album were featured, and were played much harder and heavier than on their albums.

Those of us with long memories will remember the negative reviews which the rock press gave Anvil, especially after their Reading Festival performance. However, those of us in the know knew that they were part of a new, exciting movement in metal. Besides, those who slated them were also those who laughed at bands like Slayer ;) Those of us who weren't poseurs and wimps knew the deal though - hard, fast metal was the future; and, for a few years at least, North America led the way.

This isn't their best album (I'd say that "Forged In Fire" is better), but it includes several of their best songs. The Priest/Maiden influence is obvious, but everyone is influenced by someone, so it doesn't really matter.

I still haven't got around to getting their live album, but I'm sure that will bring back some memories, and is also worth buying, especially if you saw them during one of their early UK tours. This and "Forged In Fire" are definitely worth a spin if you like early speed metal.

It's a shame that they didn't become more popular, but it wasn't the first time that journalists with an agenda had ruined a band's chances. Several lesser bands achieved greater success around the same time, simply because they became the journo's "flavour of the month". But those of us who can make up our own minds would probably have preferred Anvil.

As they used to say in the metal press back in the day... "Buy Or Die", lol :)
