I couldn't wait to get the wrapping off this, and was delighted as a Westlife fan, that Play delivered it 2 days prior to its release date. I was very impressed by the look of the whole cd/dvd, as it looks like a little book, with the 3 discs inside and some excellent artwork of the lads.
Sadly, that's where it went downhill. The DVD sticks in places, and looks terrible on a HD television, as the videos are of a normal quality, and not remastered for HD tv's. I've heard reports of the DVD not working on some DVD players at all and only on a laptop, which is not ideal. I then played the cd's, (which are fab), and as I'm wrapping my sister's copy of the 18 track, alternate greatest hits (not the deluxe edition), for Christmas, I took a look at the booklet from the album and realised the 'Thankyou' section written by Westlife themselves that's in this booklet, is actually missing from the deluxe version. I was utterly disappointed as a fan, to find that after 14 years, the personal, final messages from Westlife are in an album I don't have, and now have to spend more money in order to own them.
Is this a clever marketing ploy by the record company, so that fans have to buy both albums in order to get the final words and videos of Westlife altogether? I'm not sure. Either way, I'm deflated and underwhelmed! A five star rating for the music (how can I not?), and sadly only 2 stars for the discs and the marketing... :-(
