I stumble upon Ben Howard by accident, oh how glad I am, this musician is outstanding in everyway. His music and songwriting prowess is unbelieveable and every song is uplifting. One pine is superb as are all the other songs. All I can say is buy this NOW!!!!! :-)
You know those occasions when you download an album on a total whim? Well this was one of those and I can honestly say what a good whim it was. Beautiful guitar and heavenly vocals fill your head, smooth as a bar of Galaxy, I highly recommend this for those occasions when the soul need to relax. You wont regret it. Excellent and well deserved of 5 stars.
Heard his first release Keep Your Head Up on the radio and it instantly stuck in my head for the next couple of weeks...
Having heard it a few more times I did a bit of searching and found this album. Purchased on Play and since then I've played it about 50 times and seen him live. One of the best albums I own.
After having heard a few of his songs in the summer, I couldn't wait for him to release an album... And for good reason!
My favourite tracks are Old Pine, Diamonds and Keep Your Head Up, although they're all great! Ben's voice is just as awesome as his guitar playing.... If you've ever got a chance to see him live, take it!
I first heard Ben Howard from watching the Danny MacAskill Industrial Revolutions video on YouTube. Folky guitar and trials bikes shouldn't go together but they really do. If you want to listen to a track watch that video on YouTube because, to be honest, I find the actual music video a bit off-putting. I bought the album for "The Wolves", and didn't think I'd like anything as much as that track, but the whole album is just fantastic, with "Only Love" and "Old Pine" as highlights for me.
