Just had my first play-through this today and my first impressions are good. It's more hard-rock than thrash, but that's fine by me. I don't think the quality of the songs is quite-up there with the main Death Magnetic release (hence why they were probably missed out in the first place) but they are well produced and sound good. Plus, if you love Metallica, it's new material and that can only be good, right?
super smashing great could of done with a full albulm of hate train type sounding songs but you cant win em all
I always loved Metallica though some arent very good.....but i think those songs are really nice especially Babyon and Train.....hope that the nex album will be great!!!
This E.P. of previously unreleased songs from the Death Magnetic album sessions prove that Metallica can still deliver the goods when it comes to writing quality metal tunes with plenty of chunky Hetfield riffing, some effective shredding and even the odd maiden-esque melodic momement. Thos disappointed with the recent Lou Reed collaboration will hopefully be able to forget about that if this is an indication of what the new album will be like. Every song is good and at under 4 pounds you can't complain really. Great stuff.
