This is an album that definitely needs a few listens before you fall for it and when you do , it really gets under your skin, a statement of the US in today ,and it is not pretty.
An excellent album from Mr Springsteen
Great album and great delivery (thanks Play).
In a time when music lovers are wondering who the next big thing will be...here's a moment of pure and exciting distraction...from one of the biggest and best names in the industry.
It has a bit of everything for everyone with plenty of rebel yell and punch against our beloved bankers.
So be ready to sing, sway, chant, punch the air...the Boss is here. Enjoy.
This album clicked with me straight away, every song is brillant esp We Take Care of our Own (very similar to Dancing in the Dark(,Shackled and Drawn plus the beautiful Ballard Jack of all Trades. The Boss never fails to disappoint, have been a huge fan since 1985 and this is easily one of his best albums.Love It
Articles have described this as his angriest album in over a decade. I have listened to it and like it already. Bruce hits you hard with lyrics more than sound as I expected but it does takes a big old swipe at many a problem in America past and present and those responsible for them!!
The sound awaiting you varies from track to track, from mellow to snarling, thought provoking to uplifting. Wrecking ball the track is my instant favourite, although Rocky Ground wouldn't sound out of place in a current chart. Jack of all Trades and We Take care of our own are also early front runners. That said all the tracks sound decent and the Springsteen fans amongst us already know Land of Hope and Dreams and American Land. There are hints of some past sounds from albums gone by. It works this album is going to be respected.
Nice to see a written tribute by Bruce to the "Big Man" Clarence Clemons within. His words are poignant with a lovely last verse but the picture of them says it all.
Sorry I disagree with the first 2 reviews, this cd clicked with me straight away, easily up there with his best
