If like me you fool yourself into buying each new LP album release hoping they will return to their roots and start punching out albums like Re-Animation and Meteora only to find they've sold out to big sales and mildly pleasing the mainstream masses then you shouldn't buy this album.

I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled to try and warn like-minded people before they waste their hard earned cash on something so utterly mediocre...such a waste of talent!

Linkin Park have blown it completely

This album is terrible. If you like the old Linkin Park you will hate this, simple. After reading a few interviews with Chester, he said before the release of this album that they tried to bring it back to their roots, making music more like the stuff of Hybrid Theory, so i got really excited! Then i heard this album, and i have to say i have never been so disappointed. Dont waste your money on this album, Buy Hybrid Theory, or Reanimated.

  Loved it

Another fab offering, don't care what other reviews think - It's Linkin Park doing it at their best, I love their sound and catchy tunes. Have played my copy to death and hope I've converted a few people in the process. Am playing it as I'm writing this!! FABULOUS!!!!!! Highly recommended.

  Another great album

Sure LP albums arent the same as they used to be, but im not getting into that argument as it is simply because of them becoming older and wanting to do new things. Which is fine.

This album has got very much the same layout as the first 2 albums but then the songs are much more into the what I call 2nd Linkin Park era (M2M, ATS) and so overall leaves a fairly well mixed album that does still aim towards the second era.

However I feel there are much more guitars and rock ideas in this compared to ATS and so its supprisingly exciting to hear them in the album. This is very simply another great album, with parts of the last 4 albums being apparent throughout the songs.

The album does have some techno parts in pretty much every introduction of every song, but this can be looked past and even apprecitated after enough listens, and so overall the album is worth a buy, with many up-beat songs and also ballads that keep the listener happy throughout. (However Until It Breaks is the only bad point in the album but can be looked past)

  A Whole Lotta Meh

Let me start by saying that "A Thousand Suns" is my favourite LP album and I know that I'm in the minority with that opinion but I stand by my choice.

LP are one of my favourite bands but I'm not a fan-boy. In my opinion Living Things is nothing more than a mediocre album. Burn It Down is probably the only track with a memorable hook/electronic riff on the entire album. The "wall of sound" they were aiming for is evident to hear, but this detracts from the clarity of the sound and every song ends up sounding like the same tired dirge. Not to mention that some of the lyrics are laughable... "Kiss that ring" and "I'm only a crack" spring to mind.

Usually I will listen to an album continuously for a week or two, just in case it is a 'sleeper' or a 'grower'. Sadly Living Things only received a few play throughs before being removed from my CD player and replaced with the Dead By Sunrise album.

Best LP Album? Hardly. In my opinion Living Things is LP's weakest album to date. I'd much rather be listening to Chester's side project.

  Not Quite good enough

This album is an attempt to get Linkin Park to their original best,
Thankfully It is way better than a thousand suns.
It starts off great with the first 3 songs but then gets a bit stale and repetitive.
If this were an album from any other band other than LP it probably would be ok.
but as it isn't, it doesn't quite live up to the standards the band has set from their first 3 albums.

  Disappointing, Forgettable

I've been such a fan of Linkin Park from the start, and I accepted they had to change and keep the music fresh, but this latest offering is so forgettable and wishy washy - a bit boring really.

I didn't enjoy A Thousand Suns at first but it grows on you and now i love it, but I can't see the same happening for this album. It seems the band have gone "OK, our fans didn't really like our experimental electro stuff, better get back to our roots", except they seem to have tried too hard and ended up with a sort of plain mush of the old and new material. There's just no stand out tracks

It's desperate to hark back to the old stuff - but doesn't manage it - and at the same time trying to stray away from the stuff fans didn't like but doesn't manage that either. It's a bit confused in my opinion. I had high hopes for some fresh LP, but as has been said it's mostly just an album of background music.

  I just don't get it ....

Have been a huge linkin park fan since their first album and been lucky enough to experience them live.. I even loved a thousand suns although I must admit it took a few listens. This however is a different kettle of fish, Their are no stand out tracks to the point where it melts into just under 38 minutes of background drivel. 2 tracks at over just a minute in length. Come on guys you could have done better than this. Strip back the music and get back to the guitars.

  Linkin Park - Living Things

Like most people I prefer Hybrid Theory/Meteora. But given how similar those two were it's no wonder they had to change the style a bit.
Burn It Down being the first single off the album is a very good song. But, that being said, is just average compared to the rest of the album. For the most part very powerful lyrics. Catchy choruses that will get stuck in your head after the second listen easily.

I'm a big LP fan and will buy their albums regardless but I haven't been excited to buy an LP record in a long time and this doesn't change that. On first listen I didn't like it but it did grow on me.

Overall I do really like the album, now. There are twelve songs and one of which is instrumental only. Victimised clocks in at just over 1m45s so it's a short album. If you enjoyed Linkin Park's last two albums you will like this. Well worth a listen but without the "instant love" factor that their older style has!
