The title above may seem outlandish though I firmly stand by it. Healey exploded onto the scene in 1989 with a fusion of blues and rock which blew critics and fans away. Much has been made of Healey's blindness but that should not overshadow a prodigiously talented musician and vocalist. Containing a well balanced mix of rockers, ballads and out-and-out blues songs, this is one of the finest blues/rock albums you'll ever hear. Opening with the up-tempo 'Confidence Man', Healey did not waste any time at all in stepping up to the plate and showing the likes of Eric Clapton & Stevie Ray Vaughan that here was a new kid on the block. 'Someday, Someway' and 'I Need To Be Loved' also kicked like a mule, whilst the outright blues of 'Don't Let Your Chance Go By', 'Nice Problem To Have', 'Blue Jean Blues' and 'Hideaway' show a level of playing seldom seen in one so young. The absolute stand-out track though has to be the album-closing title track. Kicking in with a mean wah-infused riff, Healey really saved his best chops 'til last where this album is concerned. A balls-to-the-floor rocker, Healey's playing on this track is so good it is frightening. Another favourite in the live arena, this remains one of my favourite tracks of all time (by any artist).
If you already know of Healey's work, you should already own this album. If not, this is an ideal starting point for a truly wonderful artist. Go ahead and buy it - you will not be disappointed.
