 Huge disappointment

As a long-time "indie" lover and a huge fan of their first album, I greatly anticipated the follow-up. Sadly, it's a massive let-down for me. All the subtlety of the first album is forgotten; at times it sounds like a totally different band. Sure, there are some decent songs - "No Hope" is an instant classic, and "Teenage Icon" is catchy but irritatingly so... however, there are more misses than hits here, and fans of the first album may find themselves wondering what has happened. I've listened to it quite a few times now hoping it will get better, and was lucky enough to see them at Reading - where the new songs didn't hold a candle to the old material. Sadly, this is a mis-step from a band that produced one of my favourite albums of 2011... this is one of the worst albums from a band I love I've ever listened to. In fact I hoped that the copy I received was a joke, and somewhere there would be an actual version that lived up to expectation.

Tired lyrics, bad production, silly vocals, and boring songs mean this is more "follow-through" than "follow-up". I still love their debut, but this record annoys me to the point I want to wipe its memory from my mind. So much potential, squandered on an album that is full of cheesy indie songs, with only a few gems shining slightly. Certainly there's nothing outstanding that warrants a purchase.

Still, they've got potential and are a decent live band, so hopefully it will be third time lucky.

On The Same Level as Thier First

Tracks No Hope, I Always Knew, Teenage Icon, All In Vain, Ghost Town, Wierdo, Bad Mood, Change of Heart, Lonely World all stand upto the quality from what Did You Expect, beautiful 50's/60's guitar riffs and tones, with a more mature calmness to their writing, All in Vein is like a 50's pop song with a guitar riff that is reminisant to to The Shadows and The Kinks that you just want to play on loop, on a whole this is a solid second album and will banish any thought of The Vaccines being a 'one album wonder'. This will appeal to all ages, beit, 16-60 (due to the 50's/60's tones and riffs), there are moments that they have been inspierd by Arctic Monkeys, Kinks, Shadows, Oasis, Libertines - so happy with this album, on a side note I don't think the signatures on the signed copy are hand signed they look like a print.

 Oh Dear....

compared to the first album, this is awful. this is the type of music that, guys in skinny jeans listen too while combing their beiber hair cuts. First album much better.

 Love it

Another fantastic offering from The Vaccines. Heard No Hope on the radio and already loved it, Teenage Icon brill. A well written and thought out album. Wish I had noticed the 2 CD deluxe version before I ordered this. Love the Vaccines, love this CD!!!

 Trust me, it's very good!

Aside from a couple of tracks I wasn't that impressed on a quick listen through when it first arrived. However, I have since listened to it on loop about 10 times and each time it gets better and better. Every track is well put together and shows progession in their songs.

Album 1 is awesome but despite this being slightly different, it is a very, very good album, if not as good as the first. Get it!
