Skin And Bones

It's nice to hear a stripped down album from Foo Fighters with some great versions of some classic songs. It sounds like they're having a great time on stage and their performance is brilliant. A bit too much audience noise for my liking but the music more than makes up for it.
'Everlong' is the best on here and 'Times Like These' and 'Best of You' where Grohl yells with all his might are also classics.
Their first live album is a beaut.

The first thing to note, is that while the album may be called Skin And Bones, (take from the title of track 10) it's a misnomer to think of it as the Foo's stripped down. Granted they're not plugged into anything, but Dave and the boys can still belt out a tune.

With this being recorded with a live audience, the enthusiasm of the crowd is audible, but doesn't distract too much from the performance. Thankfully the banter it kept to a minimum. There's nothing wrong with a band engaging with it's audience, but if you're going to be listening to the gig again and again, (as you surely will do with this one) you don't want to listen to extended periods of just talking.

Personally, Tyler steals the show, (or should I say, Dave permits Tyler to) with Cold Day In The Sun, my favourite point in the album. If I have any critisism, it's Razor does go on a little too long as an opener to the album.

Other than that however, this is simply a perfectly ballanced set of acoustic tracks from a band at the top of it's game. Undoubtably worth a fiver of anyone's money!

Dont get me wrong.. i love the foos. However, i didnt like the slow acoustic versions of each song as much as the originals. To be fair the version of my hero is very good but songs like 'times like these' suffer from a lack of electric guitar. If I were you buy any of their other albums to avoid disappointment.

For me this is one of the best albums i heard and everlong and hero just fantastic..
A must for all foo fans

The Foo's are a superb Rock band but if you like your music a bit more mellow then this is a great album to buy . The same great songs but just toned down in an acoustic style. Just a Brilliant sound. Great band, great album, great price!!
