This is the sort of band which, when you have heard them once, you will be addicted.
Amazing recorded,
Sublime live, you must see them, and listen to them, they will get your heart pulsing.
4 tracks that come to mind are "our velocity", "books from boxes", "girls who play guitars", and "the unshockable".
A MUST buy.
Not quite what I expected.

Not a massive fan of this album although to be fair they did have to live up to massive expectations thanks to their immense debut.
The 2nd best band I have ever seen. Hot on the tails of Arcade Fire!
Almost great

I think Maximo Park are in it for the long haul. 'Our Earthly Pleasures' is absolutely no retread of their first album, it's audibly more 'grown-up' (in a good way).
I predict that ten years from now, when their contemporaries like the Kaiser Chiefs and The Futureheads are forgotten, they'll be churning out double albums that sell by the bucketload to every corner of the population.
A bit average

I love this band and have seen them live live plenty of times (all great). Yet this album does fall a bit short. Some of the tracks are just....well a bit bland and their energy just does come across as it did in Trigger.
don't get me wrong there is some good stuff on here, its that it just does grab you and you soon find yourself skipping to the tracks you like on the disc rather then playing the whole way through.
Good Work Guys!

This is one of the best albums of this year. I thought every song on the album was great!
Cant wait for the new album.
Very Strong Album From a Very Strong Band

Maximo Park capture something in their music. Something hard to explain. Somehow the guitars are enchanting and the vocals are mesmerising and yet, still relatively simple and not too heavy. If Maximo Park continue to release albums of this quality, they'll be a big big band.
All of the songs are good but, to me, a few stand out in particular.
The first being "Books From Boxes". It is, without a doubt, my favourite song on this CD. I just love it - I can listen to it in any mood; a sign of a great song.
Then comes "Our Velocity". This showcases the vocal talent in the group and is a very catchy song, though at somepoints, rather heavy on the guitar when perhaps it wasn't necessary.
I also am a big fan of "Nosebleed". I don't know why I like this one so much but I do. It's a great song and I enjoy listening to it very much.
So, if you've got some spare cash and don't have this album, get buying!
Album of the year

Without doubt, album of the year. Can't believe it's not on Mercury Prize list, it's incredibly deep and thought provoking music with some dancy tracks on it too, it really has everything. Not a single bad song.
Its the thrill of the chase.

The only songs that appealed to me on the album were Our Velocity, Books from Boxes, By the Monument and A Fortnight's Time otherwise the songs were slow but other than that the album is a good buy!
Stick to " A certain trigger".

i agree with one of the previous reviews. in most cases bands are often unnecessarily applauded after one album. with bands such as Kaiser Cheifs, The Killers and Kasabian.
i thoroughly enjoyed a certain trigger and missing songs, though this in comparison to the two previous efforts is dull and uninspiring. their distinctive style could almost be classed as alternative pop yet this is simply bad indie that fails to attract or connect with the listener on any level.
