It's quite hard for me to understand why Slade is so underrated. Sure, they did Merry X-mas Everybody, but for Pete's sake, it's only one song!
CD 1 gets 5 stars. It shows Slade's exceptional ability to write and perform different kind of songs in their own style. Highly original, very inspiring. And only a few songs are album tracks. Most of them are exclusive songs for 7" B-sides.
Unfortunately the band didn't manage to keep top quality after the beginning of the 80's. CD 2 is worth 3 stars. Everything is superb with the 9 first songs in the CD, but then the band lose their enthusiasm and goes auto-pilot. Lots of ZZ Top influences, but lacking heart and proper groove.
Yet a must for any Slade or rock fan. Top notch remastering, again by Tim Turan, is done from original master tapes and in some cases from 7" vinyls.
