This album from the Young Knives is really catchy and has really grown on me. The Young Knives never seem to run out of ideas for tunes, and a couple of tracks on this album are not quite what you'd expect but still sound good. And just for the record, Young Knives have been around for years, We first heard 'Rollerskater' about 8 years ago. In fact parts of this album seem to be reverting back to their earlier stuff. A great listen and I can't wait to see them again!
Great . . . then got oh so boring

When i first started listening to the second album from this once incredible band . . . i loved it . . . then a few more listens (3 maximum) i was incredibly bored . . . the album is much the same as the previous one . . . still recommend it to any indie lover such as myself.
excellent follow up

With "Voices of Animals and Men" being a real favourite of mine, its so pleasing that TYK have followed it up so strongly. Songs like the single "Terra Firma", and "Counters" develop on the sound they developed on their debut, but crucially TYK explore new territory on "Superabundance", particularly on the much harsher, fuzzier standout "I Can Hardly See Them". The latter half of the album is spacey and almost psychedelic at times, particularly on "Mummy Light The Fire".
It's not perfect - a couple of tracks simply aren't as strong as their other material, and it feels a little lop sided as an album, but its about as good a follow up to their debut as could be hoped for, and a seriously good album.
Sheer Genius

I was a little worried about the [seeming] change of direction and repitition in "Terra Firma", and also why it's taken nearly another six months from the initial single for the album to come out - it was originally called "Game On (Up All Night)". But I'm happy to say this album is TYK at the top of their game.
The House of Lords takes over [from Henry] vocal duties on the best track on the album ("Turn Tail") and aquits himself very well, having obviously gained in confidence through touring experience.
I defy anyone to listen to this without a huge grin on their faces! Go tell everyone you know and spread the word about the biggest secret in Indie/Geek rock!
Super Second Album

Amazing. It has only taken The Young Knives a year and a half to rise to the top of their game. The trio had huge success with their first album, "Voices Of Animals And Men", receiving fantastic reviews and smashing in to the Top 20 Album Chart. And now they're back with their second album, "Superabundance", which promises to be equally as groundbreaking, if not more, than the first. With catchy hits such as, "Terra Firma", "Up All Night" and "Lightswitch", this album is sure to be another stepping stone to the bands great future.
Watch Out!
