For the last 5 minutes of the song it's as if you're threw back into Implements Of Destruction from Impossibility Of Reason with its sheer technical endurance and the enthralling journey it entails. No Reason To Live starts off slow as if awakening from a daze but soon pounding drum crashes wake you up into a fury of rippling guitars that pound just about anything with any life left in it and the lyrics of a desperate and destroyed humanity couldn't be put any better with the vile and hatred in Hunters voice. Killing The Beast is a slow paced searching summary of someone who is scum and just doesn't deserve to live. It never really hits any high and but its low racing threats personifies the killing of the beast as this slow process breaking him down bit by bit. For me the finest song on the album has to be The Flame, lyrically it fills with you with something that no emotion could describe as it deals with this father who has abused his daughter. The crashing thuds of the guitars thicken every strike the father throws at this defenceless girl. The haunting screaming effects throughout just add to how much this song can evoke inside and its structure personifies the events disturbingly. Still taking the punches of The Flame you then move into End It All, which creates a repetitive chorus to personify the dissatisfaction of life. Vocals are pushed to new highs here too and Herrick's supersonic drumming is a dominant feature throughout. Black Heart's personal attack of being completely useless has a rip-roaring rush of the guitar that really makes the song. Something that makes the album especially significant is that every song has a unique feature that really makes it stand out. Penultimate song Needle is a short sharp song of insignificance and emptiness that doesn't push many boundaries and fits with the albums general theme but it's got a natural tone that's instantly memorable. Closing song Empire's opening of operatic chants gives a vamperic and haunted vibe but then it kicks into a Cradle of Filth/Satyricon double kick death metal frenzy. It then gathers the typical technical Chimaira guitars but the added keyboards turn it into horrific climatic experience, which leaves way for the drowning out of the guitars to complete silence.
