     Almost Perfection

Had I not listened to Metropolis part 2 the title for this review would be absolute perfection.
An amazing album, i cannot understand why some dream theater fans dislike it, in my opinion in the presence of enimies is the best song dream theater have recorded, 26 minutes of bliss and the intro is just epic (an over used word but it really applies to this song).
This album is a must for any dream theater fan and an excellent place to start your collection if you are new to the band........
    Stop reading and buy it!

I recently got the Awake album by Dream Theater because I heard the song Voices somewhere and I absolutely loved it. Apart from the fact that Dream Theater are generally one of the most awesome bands I've ever heard, I crave skill...this band has more amounts of skill than I've ever seen. Their singer has such a huge vocal range, their keyboardist, bassist, drummer, guitarist, they are ALL amazing at what they do and I can never fault anything they ever have ever done. Every song seems unique and this album shows the world just exactly how great Dream Theater are...I also don't understand how they have the brain power to write songs which are anything higher than 10 minutes long...also check out Octavarium...24:00 long...J E S U S

All in all...Dream Theater are amazing and this album completely rocks...end of!

     Almost the perfect album

I completely missed out on Dream Theater until I bought this album a year ago and all I can say is wow. There is so much going on - every track has a unique appeal. Kind of like Metallica mixed with Pink Floyd and a bit of Muse in places. Some tracks like 6 and 7 are beyond criticism. I bought the entire back catalogue on the strength of this album. Please buy it NOW

     Aweome Album!!!!

I got this last year and it took awhile to properly get into it. The songs that struck me first were In The Presence Of Enemies Pt 1, Constant Motion, The Dark Eternal Night & Prophets Of War. All Mindblowing songs. The rest of the album took me awhile before i realised the whole album was a masterpiece. Dream Theatre are awesome musicians. This is my first album from theirs. But my friend lent me a live album of theirs(there awesome live). This is worth the money for any metalhead it may take you awhile to get into but if you dont like straight away do not throw it away as it is a masterpiece. Rock On!!!!

     BEST BAND OF ALL TIME!

Dream Theater has impressed me more and more ever since they released 'A Change of seasons', but this album is possibly their best album they ever released, it looks as though Dream Theater will keep going, and thats what makes them one of a kind, they play music because they enjoy it not any other reason, SO TRY THIS ALBUM YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

     In the presence of greatness

The latest offering from dream theater is awesome, I've always been a fan but not a massive one, but this album may have changed my perspective! Any DT fan will love it straight away. Its an album that you can listen to for hours and still hear something different everytime.

In the presence of enemies 1 opens the album in true prog style with a 4 minute intro to the song. Next is forsaken, a slower more melodic song with a big chorus. The Dark Eternal Night is the heaviest dream theater song to date, with customary dream theater mental instrumental sections.
Prophets of war is once again another great song with a catchy chorus although no solo from the great Mr Petrucci. The Ministry of Lost Souls is a really powerful ballad but with a cool instrumental section in the middle

This really is a great album, musically, lyrically and due to its sheer diversity, definately worth the money and if i lost my copy i'd definately buy it again. For a first time dream theater buyer its probably to get Six degrees of inner turbulance though.

Stand out tracks: Constant motion, Dark eternal night, Forsaken and Prophets of war
