I've never really bothered to write a review about anything before but feel that this is such a good album that I should spread the word!
All the songs on this album are extremely good ranging from the quick "Barrowland Ballroom" to the slow "Footballer's Wife". Personally my favourite song is "Lets Start A Band" which builds up to a superb finish.
I reccomend you to buy this for the voice and lyrical talent of Amy Macdonald.
Outstanding

I cannot praise this album enough. I loved Mr Rock & Roll when I heard it as a single but I did not expect the album to be as good as this.
It's difficult to pick a favorite song as preference depends on my mood however I'm generally torn between This Is The Life & Let's Start A Band.
An added bonus is that the songs are not identical but the folky style is consistent.
For somebody of her age there are some really clever lyrics & stories to be found under the melodies.
I really hope she sticks around for a while. A true talent !!

Normally wouldn't be my type of music, i'm usually into Rock & Metal, but I must admit this was actually okay.
A couple of songs really stand out and are truly brilliant.
But there are some others that really aren't so brilliant, and so this only deserves three, lucky to get four.
EH!!!!!!

I was playing this album and didn't even notice it had finished and didn't even think about what i was listening to. Yes i gave it more than one try. But..... EH!!!!! If you're gonna do a debut make sure it comes out and smacks your listeners right in the lughole.....
Don€t believe the hype.

A mildly interesting debut, but ultimately one that left me unsatisfied. As singer songwriters go Amy Macdonald is an example of an individual who has been in the right place at the right time. There's no other explanation to support the interest that she is generating.
This album has a solid ep's worth of material on it, but a full length has been over adventurous in my opinion. For those who have lavished unstinting praise I would challenge them to hold the same opinion six month from now. Over the last decade there has been many women who have displayed more talent than this lass but not reaped the benefits. As a Scotsman I would love to be able to extol the virtues of her efforts on this, but I honestly can't. Buy the singles and avoid the album.
GREAT.

This is a stunning debut album. Not a bad song on it and half a dozen absolute crackers.

This scottish girl arguably has that little extra. She has the songwriting chops, but also a very good voice (think KT Tunstall). Lots of hooks on this record and memorable melodies. Some of the songs are a little sappy, but otherwise a very good record. A recommended buy. She can be really big in the future, no doubt...

What an outstanding album and what a voice . Every one of the tracks on here would be worthy of release as a single . The least stand out track to me was the first single "Mr Rock and Roll" , the rest of the album is far better than this tune which is still good to listen to.
The guitar work on the album is exceptional and if some of it is Amy's (as credited) she is indeed an exceptional musician and one to watch out for .
Will the notorious follow up album be as good ? I tell you what, it will have to go some to be as good as this , the best album I have brought in years .
