I got this because I liked 'Paper Planes', and was interested in the artist. The rest of the album at first I didn't enjoy, I found alot of it annoying, but wow it has certainly grown on me!
Now I can listen to the whole album, and not get tired of a single track, I simply love the blend of styles she incorporates, and the rhytms and beats are just amazing! You will no doubt find youself stomping your feet and dancing throughout, lyrically it is impressive, edgy and soulful.
I highly recommend this talent, even if like me you just like the song 'Paper Planes'. My favourite tracks now are 'Bamboo Banga' (ironic as I didn't like it at all at first) the lyrics 'M.I.A is coming back with power power' are brilliant and definitely fitting, 'Bird Flu', 'Jimmy', 'Boyz', 'XR2', 'Paper Planes' and the excellent 'Mango Pickle Down River' which is just so different and fantastic!
I am definetly going to get M.I.A's first album as I loved this so much! It is such a fun album which I higlhy recommend, and if you dislike it at first, don't give up, I felt the same way!
This has to be one of the top albums by a female artist in a very long time!

M.I.A. is back with POWER POWER!!

'Bamboo Banga' mixes hip-hop and rap with a male vocalist declaring 'c'mon' throughout, as bollywood music and singers intervene and M.I.A. declares she's back with 'power power'. It's a big statement to make, and there's a fusion of styles and sounds throughout that proves her point.
Best songs are: 'Bamboo Banga', 'Boyz', 'Jimmy', '$20' and 'Paper Planes'. I only choose these as examples as they are the most accessible to new listeners of M.I.A. otherwise the album as a whole is a musical treat.

Firstly I have to say that I think that M.I.A. is currently one of the most gifted singers in the UK today. Her music is so different and this one shows a marked change from her first album. There are a few stand-out tracks on this in particular the track where the Pixie's "Where is my mind" is sampled.

 Amazing
