Alison Krauss continues her forever upward curve beyond perfection, she has the purest voice I have ever heard and this album, while a bit of a departure from the usual sound with her amazing band Union Station, is nevertheless an essential addition to a collection, regardless of your tastes in music. Sad songs, uplifiting songs, beautifully crafted songs, but every track made all the better by the peerless Krauss. An outstanding album.

Top 10 Music Reviewer

Alison Krauss is probably best known in the UK for her work on the O' Brother Where Art Thou' soundtrack particularly the song 'Down To The River To Pray', that track is included here as well as songs from other soundtracks that she's contributed to such as 'The Scarlet Tide' from Cold Mountain and 'I Give You To His Heart' from The Prince of Egypt.
Although those songs are probably the best known it's the new tracks to this album which really make it stand out and more importantly the way Krauss sings them. Her voice is absolutely stunning and she manages to get across a feeling of emotion that few singers can emulate. She never oversings a song, leaving the lyrics and her tone to portray the feelings of the song. This is never better shown than on the track 'Jacob's Dream' a track about two brothers who go and play in the mountains and end up getting lost. The song tells the story of the fathers search for them until he eventually finds them dead. It's a really moving song that in Alison's hands becomes really harrowing.
Also included is her duets with Brad Paisley on 'Whiskey Lullaby' and John Waites on a new version of his huge hit 'Missing You'.
The truth is that this is a bluegrass album and if you think you don't like bluegrass you're probably never going to give it the chance it deserves. However, give this album a chance and you could well find yourself listening to the album of the year.
