Great album and a good remaster let down by poor extras

First off let me say that Whitesnake's 1987 is a classic album. The blues rockers may have felt betrayed by Coverdale when he went all MTV on them but he knew what he was doing and time has proved he got it right. For better or worse bands should evolve or, like rock dinosaurs, face extinction.
First up the remastering of this. I have seen some say that the original CD is mastered digitally (DDD) so this will be no different but to my ears it is (surely you can digitally alter digital sounds) - the remaster seems fuller and crisper and the bass is improved. Not a massive difference - if it was a car it would be more a clean and polish than a respray.
The 'extras' on the other hand are laughable coming from the Live in the Shadow of the Blues CD and DVD from a year or so back. Good enough but I've got it already. The videos are quite good but are high cheese and you only really watch them a few times. What happened to all the b-sides of the various singles that came out at the time? Surely they would have been better use of a CD? Even some demos or live performances from the time.
Anyway great album, good remaster, one star off for the rubbish extras.
