After the classic Till Deaf Do Us Part (1981) this was and still is a disappointment. The songs have been recorded during 1982-1984, most of them in '84.
Where Till Deaf and We'll Bring The House Down (1981) had strong, unique Slade style and feeling, Kamikaze Syndrome is a mixture of different genres, styles and influences (almost rip-off's).
Run Runaway is Big Country, My Oh My Elton John, In The Doghouse 50's rock 'n roll etc. Noddy Holder don't have the spirit he had in previous releases and sounds quite tired at times. Dave Hill don't get his usual energy and craziness in his playing.
So, highly professional album which is missing the sharp edged excitement the boys had before. Bonus tracks, taken from the U.S. release Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply, are excellent, hot rockin' Slade.
Slade's 80's album ,better than expected

This lp contained 2 top 10 hits, My oh My and Run Runaway, C'est La Vie peaked at 50 as first single release.
Any one of the other tracks were potential singles, Slam the Hammer Down/ Cheap and Nasty Luv/ Razzle Dazzle Man. This was a top 20 lp in USA with slightly different track listing called Take your hands of my power supply.
Run Runaway gave Slade a top 20 billboard hit in 1984, the band were touring as support to Ozzy Osbourne [Sharon Osbourne acting as management] they played 6 warm up shows when Jim Lea collapsed and was diagnosed with hepatitis, the tour was pulled, My oh My peaked at 60, the moment had gone. They continued to release singles and albums both in USA and Europe but the touring finished. Noddy Holder refused to play live, the spirit of the band had gone, Jim Lea produced the last 2 studio lps Rogues Gallery and You Boize makebig Noize,
neither worried the charts, despite some cracking tunes.
Kamikaze is still a good piece of work , well worth a listen.
