Cassadaga

Bright eyes new album is not a concept record as such but it's storytelling exercise by arguably one of the best lyricists in modern rock. Conor and the rest of the band have been busy , within the album they embrace the jaunty travelling spirit of americana on "four winds" but the most obvious influence on the new cd is country. There is a mix of sounds within the cd , there are the pop moments " i must belong somewhere" , the subtle indie musings of " cleanse song , the lush love enquiry of " make a plan to love me".
There are lots of accessible moments for the band to gain new fans but they still stick to their charms with introspective and thought provoking lyrics, this could be the album that gets them mainstream success and by listening to the cd you wouldn't argue with that at all

It'll be hard to review this album without an element of bias. I am admittedly, a HUGE fan of bright eyes. MY favourite album is 'lIfted' but Cassadaga has etched itself as a worthy contender. Again the album is not something which should be listened to fleetingly. If you're going to listen to Bright Eyes, please don't make it a one track experience. Take an hour or two and seep this one up. Personal highlights for myself were 'Make a Plan to Love Me' and 'No one would riot for Less'.
