Another album runrig have managed to make brilliant, but after 34 years of practice should anyone be surprised. With eleven new songs (two in gaelic) the boys once again find that perfect mix of cultural tones laced through with rock qualities. Though a few songs are distinguished above others, the album works well as a whole.
However 'An dealach' and 'this day' seem to be mere imitations of previous songs and have you reaching for past albums to see if they are just that. 'somethings got to give' is a slower song that lacks the heart and memorability found in other songs on the album.
'Year of the flood' and 'road trip' gives the album a great start and 'The ocean road' is as evocative as it is dinstinctive. THe other songs i've not mentioned follow the same standards which easily sets the album above many of its predecessers. But by far the best song is the last on the album, 'in Scandanavia'. Bruce Guthro delivers a haunting and thought provoking performance and the additional vocals of Aud Ingebjorg Heldaas make it one of runrig's greatest songs to date.
despite one or two flaws the albums is still spectacular and raises the bar if they decide to make any more albums.
Well RunRig have done it again. They have made the most brilliant album called Everything you see which was released on 14th of may 07.
The Year oF The Flood and EveryThing You See was the pefect to start the album off. And the vocies of bruce and rory on the ocean road is very moving and haunting.
So there you go if you are a RunRig fan this album is for you it is a beautiful album it is the one to buy get up and have a dance. I can garentee you won't able to get your feet still for long.
If there is anyone out there who isn't a fan have a go and buy this album and give it a go i am sure you will change your mind.
I do think this album is the band better ones they have evermade in a long time.Who knowes they might realease another one like it in the near future.
another great album with a good mix of songs both in english and gaelic ,if you have never seen them live check out "Year Of The Flood "DVD Will have searching for tickets for their next concert ,where there is a party everytime
Brilliant album, well worth buying. Clash of the ash is probably the best song on the cd. Makes me proud to play shinty.
