This is a great album, the lyrics are excellent with brilliant instrumentals, makes for easy exciting listening! Extremely orginal especially the leads voice, which is strange but in a very good way : ) my only problem with this album is it is a tad depressing because of the subject of many of the songs, but it still sounds good and is a must have for any music fan!
Editors go from strength to strength

The back room was a brilliant debut album, an end has a start builds on that foundation taking the band in a direction that has one destination the TOP!!! Fantastic album, great music, great lyrics the editors deliver in spades again...
Exciting Editors

I didnt know much about them until i heard smokers outside the hospital doors. I love that song, so i had to buy the album, and most of the songs are brilliant. The last 1 though is really boring and i havent listened to that one again
So Much For "The Difficult 2nd Album"!

The Back Room was a great debut, but there is a lot more depth to An End Has A Start. It's a more personal and melancholic album containing some impressively catchy singles, but a number of other stand-out tracks (notably "The Weight Of The World"). After a few listens I guarantee you will appreciate what a talent the Editors are - one of a few bands I never get bored of listening to.
bit of a shock

i liked the editors when i first heard them but when i heard more of their songs i got bored because there songs on their first album sounded too...samey. my dad bought this because he like the racing rats, i listened to it and i was blown away, this album is fantastic, i cant decide which song i like the best because they are all so good, if you buy this you wont be disappointed, trust me.

The Editors are truly fantastic, I didn't expect after such a fantastic first album (The Back Room), they could bring out another album thats actually even better.
This album is pretty much on my stereo constantly, there's so many great songs on here, the best one is the title track, "An End Has A Start", as well as "Bones", and "Racing Rats".
when it's good, it's very good...

but when it's bad, it can be pretty bad.
the good songs on here, the title track, Spiders, The Racing Rats, Bones and Escape The Nest are probably the best things Editors have ever done, inbetween these majestic songs there are some boring songs that just dont get going. its a pity, but despite this i still really like this album. definately worth getting. its not a perfect album, but there are doubtlessly near-perfect songs on it.
Not a bad follow-up!

Wow, first and foremost.
I bought "The Back Room" after hearing Munich and ever since I have been eagerly waiting for the next installment of Editors. If you loved the first album then this is definately for you.
Smokers outside hospital doors is a testament to their new sound. Although this is a new album they've not strayed too far away from their catchy melodies and rhythms. I found it hard not to get caught into it and play it loud without feeling embarrassed at what you're I was listening to.
I've not heard many people slate it. All those I've spoken to have all said that from the first day you listen to it you're not going to want to turn it off in a hurry. 10/10 for the boys. They deserve it.
Fantastic

What an album! I fell in love with the editors when they did one of the tracks 'an end has a start' on radio 1s livelounge.
The lead singers voice is fantastic, it is refreshing to hear a voice with such fab depth and tone since everyone is kinda ripping the sing high(ish) and in a cockny accent these days!
All of the songs are amazing, the lyrics are amazing and the guitar parts are catchy, tunefull and melodic.
Buy this, you wont be dissapointed..fantastic music...im in love with it that much that I have bought 'The Back Room' now too...
one album everyone should own

this album is fantastic, the lyrics and music or on a another level to anything that is out there at the moment.
the lyrics grab hold of you and demand you listen from the 1st song through to the last then it makes you want to do it all again, its that good
if you buy one album today, just make sure its this one you wont be disappointed.
