I have never consciously heard anything by 'Jimmy Eat World' prior to buying this album - what a great album - listening to it the first few times I heard many other bands however the truth is they are their own band. If you have never heard anything by this band, buy this; I don't think you will be disappointed the tracks are well written and well played - a very polished satisfying album.
great album, jims done it again

i was so excited when i got this album, but on first listen i was really unsure of how i felt about it, the songs sounded so polished and didnt give the the feeling other jim albums have the minute i heard them. after hearing these songs live, i have changed my mind and realised they are brilliant, just needed some gettin used to. now i cant get enough! will never be my favourite though :)
Great album!

As a rock album, Chase this light is brilliant, and if this is the first you have heard of Jimmy Eat World, then you most definately will not be dissapointed with this. Easily one of the best albums of 2007.
Now for the review as a Jimmy Eat World Album. For Me Clarity, Bleed American and Futures are 3 of the best albums period. Chase this light, just doesn't quite reach this level. While a brilliant album in its own right it just falls short of being a brilliant Jimmy Eat World album. This though is credit to Jimmy Eat World and the brilliantly high standards they seem to set themselves when writing music.
If you like this album then you will love their previous efforts.
don't accept critique or credit!

Whatever you're looking for, if it's consistency, pop gems, or darker poignant songs, Jimmy Eat World have it all. Honestly, although this CD was never going to be better than 'Clarity,' this is far from terrible.
The completely sold out UK tour next month is evidence of just how radiant this record really is, 'Big Casino' is the incredible appetizer setting you up for the album, pouring into the beautiful 'Let it happen' (my personal favourite) this record is a lot more poppy than the darker previous release 'Futures' and songs like 'Electable' and 'Here it goes' are anthemic with catchy chours' and sure to be a hit with the live crowds, likewise the closing few tracks 'Dizzy' and 'Be Sensible' are astounding, and the only fault I have with this record is the few songs that although are great, don't stick as much as the rest i.e. 'Firefight.'
Sure people are criticising this record, claiming it's 'overproduced' and has 'cheesy backing vocals' but for a bands 6th/7th record this is an astonishing effort, I challenge you to find more groups like JEW who are consistent in still releasing great pieces of work, and still playing spectacular sell out shows, fifteen years from start.
An absolute bargain for £6.99, buy it, and with the left over cash go and see them in concert, you won't regret it!
fab

Its more of the same (no bad thing), big choruses, lyrics you learn with 2 listens, lots of oh oh oh's and hu hu hu's
I have waited for ages for this to come out and am very pleased with it, only thing I don't really like is Firefight, just because I don't really like the lyrics.
Best songs in my opinion Dizzy (this album's 23 for me) and Carry You. Recommended, although it's not really any departure from anything they have done before.
Love it!!

I got this album as a present about a month ago and have had it on repeat on my CD ever since!! I never get tired of the songs and the more I listen to it the more I love it. I think that 'Carry You' is so beautiful so that is definitely my favourite! Other amazing tracks are 'Big Casino' and 'Chase This Light'. But to be honest all are great, with catchy rhythms and clever lyrics. The songs really flow and I think that everyone should give it a listen - one of my favourite albums ever!!! :)
