 Good music = not this

if i wanted to hear speech song, i would go watch a nice west end musical. At least in a musical there's pure musical talent and they take me on a musical journey...yes i know she's doing well (surprisingly), but to be honest there is no appeal (to me anyway), her voice is almost monotonous which is a real shame, she includes bursts of non musical speech (which is nearly all of her songs). she has a powerful voice and it could be expressed in such a more powerful way rather than chav speech. I heard "foundation" on the radio and thought to myself "oh boy, what has music come to?", if she sang properly she would be amazing. If you want a musical experience full of emotion and talent and creativety, then don't buy this, but if is the type of thing you like then you'll enjoy it infinately more than me(i don't know why though) in my opinion, kate nash is an aquired taste

its not a song its a monologue!

why dont people sing on records any more? why do people just play one note at a time on records? why do people insist on using drum machines on records these days? why do people think if someone can rhyme bin with cabbage, they are automatically a genius? why, since the unexplained sucesses of mike skinner, lily allen and just jack, are people not yet bored of this drivel? why has the itunes generation, not just taking the fun of buying music but also taking the fun of listening to music? and why do i not just put my rant to a drum machine and two notes on a keyboard? i'm sure some idiot would find it genius!

 A long time coming

I have been a Kate Nash fan from the very start, ever since the demos first started making their way around the internet. I saw her live for the first time in February, where she played "Foundations" for the third time live - little did I know that all these months later in July that it would be inches away from the national number one.

I have always championed Kate, and defended her constantly against the Lily Allen comparisons and "just another singer songwriter" arguments, because I just think I have never heard anyone like her. All her songs are real stories - told from the heart, with passion.

I have been looking forward to this album ever since it was rumoured to be in production. I can remember running into a newsagents checking for one sentence about the Nash in that week's NME - this week she is on the freakin' cover. She's come a long way in a short amount of time, and she deserves it all.

The track list for the album looks fantastic - I've heard all of the tracks except "Play" and "Pumpkin Soup", and I haven't found a Kate Nash track I don't love, yet. All my favourites have been included - I was worried "Mariella" wouldn't be included, but lo and behold, it's right there. Make sure you check it out, along with "We Get On". Both very clever and funny 'story' songs.

One disappointment; "Stitching Leggings". Where the hell is it!? A legendary Nash song. Oh, and whats with the new logo eh Kate? I liked the old one. But minor faults.

This album has been pre-ordered for months and now finally, it's so close to coming out. I just hope more people find Kate Nash is so much more than "Foundations".

Besides; more people need to get a sweaty high five from her, just like I did all those months ago at the Wolverhampton Little Civic in February. Sigh. I love that girl.

 Good album!

This is a good album, not one of my favourites but Kate Nash is very talented and delivers the songs in her own unique way.

I have skipped a couple of tracks but the remainder are quite good. I don't think I would have paid anymore for it but for tunes to play in the background when you're getting ready to go out, it's pretty cool... although I have to admit I wouldn't play it if in laws or parents were around due to the lyrics of some of the songs (which is highlighted on the CD cover).

All in all, happy I brought the CD and I would consider buying future albums of KN.

 Overproduced. Keep it simple!

I really like Kate Nash, or rather I really like her early demos which were floating around the web before she exploded into everyones view and shot up the charts.

But then something happened in the music studio. All her best songs were destroyed by excessive production. She sounds best when at a piano with minimal backing. Her songs don't ask for, or deserve to have a marching band wandering around in the background bust sadly that's what they have on this album.

Little Red, the bonus track has escaped the efforts of overly keen mangement to 'jazz' things up a bit and so stands out as being the most pure. Although I will say, I think Mariella is better on the album than the demo version, but that's probably the one.

Kate Nash is a true rising tallent, but one who just needs to take back a bit of creative control.
