A Whimsically Fun And Bizarre Album

The Hoosiers, when first breaking onto the scene could only be described as weird, yet unique. They gave us a sound that we truly don't hear that much on todays pop music scene, they present originality and simplicity to their music. The lead singer Irwin Sparks has said in interviews that the band wanted to be known as an Indie band but they're not cool enough, but let me tell you when comparing the Hoosiers to other "Indie" bands on the scene at the moment they're quite easily the best at what they do. Sparks has also noted that the Hoosiers sound is a blend of all music genres and they have named it "Odd Pop" it's pop that's a bit odd.
Citing their inspirations as being The Cure, The Flaming Lips & XTC you can certainly see the inspiration when listening to the album as most every song has a completely different feel to it. My personal favourites of the album are the up beat songs such as Goodbye Mr. A and Cops & Robbers, but I most certainly love nearly all the songs on the album with the exception of Worst Case Scenario which in my opinion is the worst song on the album.
My Top 5
1. Cops & Robbers
2. Killer
3. Goodbye Mr. A
4. Worried About Ray
5. The Trick To Life
Brilliant album that should be owned by everybody with a light hearted look at music.
Totally addictive!

First time I listened to this album, didn't think much of it - but the more I listened, the more I wanted to....it's like a drug...totally addictive! Would definitely recommend.
Good quality music

I love Goodbye Mr A. And Worst Case Scenario. And Worried About Ray.
I buy CDs when i love three of that album's songs - sometimes the rule is broken because i buy a CD like Panic At The Discos new album becuase i love them, or because i dont buy a CD due to insufficient money funds (which happens fairly regularly) but rarely is the rule regretted.
There have only been three recorded incidents in which this rare event has occured - The Killers and Hot Fuss, 30 Seconds To Mars and Beautiful Lie and, yes you've guessed it, The Hoosiers and Trick To Life.
It's not that this record is bad. It's more that there's not enough good. other than my magic three songs the only other sparkling tune is Cops and Robbers. The rest, I' sad to say, are fillers, that hated word used to describe the truly awful idea of invesnting 'arty' songs which dont really mean anything, and sound really deep because they've been written in 5 seconds.
And so this album, which could have potentially been so good, is turned into a hare-and-the-tortoise incident. So - Hoosiers, Killers and other bands ready to follow in their footsteps - Respect your not-that-stupid fans, listen to Aesop and produce a good album slowly rather than a quarter of an album quickly.

There are so many new-wave indie/rock/funk bands around at the moment, it is easy to get drawn in to passing them all off as the same...and for the main they are!
But then you get the odd gem like The Hoosiers!
They have a great, really enjoyable sound and songs that will either get your foot tapping and you desperately trying to learn the words... or lose you in thoughts to what the words actually say!
There's even a slight feel of the genius that is "The Cure" to these guys.
A must buy for anyone who likes good music done well!
Hooray for the Hoosiers!

What an absolutely fantastic album. Every single track is brilliant, which is really unusual. These guys are really talented and the songs are just incredible. Some of the tracks are so upbeat and funky you just wanna go crazy and others are quite melancholy and slower but with The Hoosiers great lyrics still. You really should buy this album - it is so great you will love it!
Weirdly Great!

I bought this CD, thinking it would be really good, and at first i must say, I was a bit disappointed with it, I thought the songs would be more like GoodBye Mr A etc, but they are completely different, however, when you listen to it for the 2nd/3rd time you really like it! You get used to the Hoosiers style and now I honestly cant stop playing it! The trick to life is a really good album, so buy it! =]
Good album

I do like this album, its orginal BUT there are a three tracks I cant stand! If your worried that its all going to be same-y because "worried about ray" and "goodbye mr a" are similar sounding do not.... the album is completely different. I fell in love with the tracks "Cops and Robbers", "A Sadness Runs Through Him" and "The Trick to Life"
Well it's original...

i'm very picky about these new bands, don't like to make a scene, these guys have won me over. BIG TIME. i can't describe why but the music and the general sound and shape of the band have something to do with. GET THIS ALBUM
