I love this album, especially when its played loud, it puts more emphasis on the immense guitars.

Libertad sounds more of a group effort than Contraband does, as they were already working on it before Scott joined, but still, the album feels like the band have now settled in. Everything on the album just sounds right.

The DVD is average, shows some live footage and some of the band on tour.

You defiantly have to buy this album.

 not so bad!

yeah the albums ok, but contraband was better. No match for their arch rival guns n roses or maybe i should just say axl rose!

VR are the definition of Hard Rock

Even though this album isn't as 'giant' as Contraband, and some of the songs don't stand out as much, this album is on par with Contraband. 12/13 of these songs are absoultely brilliant with great lyrics and instruments. Slash is, as always, on the top of his game, and as a whole the band recorded a wonderful hard rock album. Each song has a different style to it, and are all different enough for you to listen to each one and always enjoy it. One thing I will say is this album may take a couple of full listens for you to appreciate.

In short, sheer brilliance in an optical music disc. Buy it now

This is VR follow up album to Contraband, and in my opinion is the softer and better of the two. That's not to say its not wild & fully rocking, but I prefer Scotts voice on this album, he's much easier & clearer to hear. I recently saw them play & although it was prior to the albums release, you could just tell it was going to be very different. If you get this DO watch the DVD about the making of it & the guys comments about it, I've just watched it and they themselves say it's a different sound to the 1st album & that there's a lot of 'Feelings' gone into Libertad . . . . Which I think you can kind of guess anyway when you play it. These guys are true Rock Gods, with all the stuff & baggage that goes with that tag, plus they aren't in their 20's anymore! (Neither am I, so maybe thats why I like it so much!) It's a great album & if I'm not playing it, I'm humming it in my head! I can't say there's any song I don't like, though my first favourites have to be She Builds Quick Machines, Just Sixteen & Gravedancer & Let it Roll. . . . Oh & American Man! . . . . OK I like the whole album!! If you weren't totally convinced about VR with their Contraband Album, PLEASE do give this one a go, I'm sure you'll think differently. I just hope their 3rd one (if it happens) is along the same lines I LOVE It!
