This a real gem of a record and I'm so glad I found it. Don't be put off by the country repetoire this is a brilliant, heartfelt singer songwriter album. If you like Rufus Wainwright (who features on the record) and Damien Rice you'll love this.

There are some fantastic harmonies from Iris De Ment and Tift Merritt to add to credibility. It's obvious he really means it, man. Finally one word about the excellent orchestration from Robert Kirby (the man who did Nick Drakes strings).
This is heart-felt, working-man's blues and one of the best albums I've heard all year. Buy this today you won't be dissapointed.
