Limbo

Miracle Mile are an extremely talented duo producing intelligent, impassioned music that speaks straight from the heart and this album is no exception. The eloquent voice of Trevor Jones, the soulful lyrics and sensitive, emotive melodies combine to draw the listener in with accomplished ease and transport you to another more perfect world.

A deep vein of sadness runs through much of the album, the pain of leaving love behind in 'Lights of Home', the truly heartbreaking 'Love Letters and Long Goodbyes' (not ashamed to say this moves me to tears), the sharper 'Sunburst Finish' and in Plasticine, the regaining of independence, to name but a few. Sadness of a different kind is explored in 'Pink Jesus', the voiceover and muted bass make this particularly poignant. Other tracks such as 'Way Back When', 'Joshua's Watch' and 'Papillon' are more evocative and reflective, the hope for a brighter tomorrow. 'Lucky Limbo', the tender and rather lovely final track is definitive of the underlying tone present throughout - the relativity of the ups and downs, the essence of life that makes us who we are.

Critical acclaim is well deserved - this is heartfelt, desireable, thought provoking music that does not fail to move you - highly recommended.
