The first album i have bought from the Babyshambles. Although Pete Doherty has issues, he certainly doesnt in the lyrical content on this album, pure brilliance. And you cant grumble for 7 quid either, wait for the special on it!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!

This album changed my mind on Pete Doherty, saw them live last week and they were simply fantastic again! This album is in the top 5 of the year and is defiantly worth £8.95 of your money, believe me!

I did not like Pete Docherty.....i was wrong, this man is a music genius. This album is amazing it is so easy to listen to and some of the lyrics are brilliant. Every song is quality, my favourites are UnBiloTitled, there she goes and baddies boogie but i don't think there is a bad song here. If you're a sceptic buy this album and im sure like me you will buy the rest of the babyshambles and libertines albums and appreciate the genius of docherty!!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Utter Perfection

I hope with this album Pete may have managed to silence some of the critics. Its a brilliant follow up to Albion which was also a brilliant album.

This album is perhaps a little cleaner and you can tell that more time has gone into the production side of things. However the rawness of the first album is definitely still there and yet again the lyrics help to further Pete's acknowledgment as a poetic genius.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Albulm of the year

I never really liked their first album, bit to long and patchy. This album however shows how good Pete Docherty is when he puts his music first. I would class this as an instant albulm that hits you and makes you push the repeat button over and over. Best song is Crumb begging...starts like a manni solo at the start of a Stone roses song then busets into life. this album is a must buy...Album of the year..do it now.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Effortlessly brilliant, and a real beauty of an album.

Top 100 Music Reviewer

It's a shame there's so much baggage involved in sizing up a new release from the world of Pete Doherty. If you'd never heard of the guy, you would listen to this and think "it's destined to be on the short-list for the Mercury next year".

The secret to Doherty and to this release is that he makes his music sound so easy. Sometimes bluesy & breezy, often whimsically punkish and always laced with hopeless romanticism, the songs always sound like they were thrown together. Despite the "shamobolic" nature of them, his songs seem to stumble and trip without ever falling down. They are masterpieces, and without question they are stamped with Doherty's genius and style. He uses space (positve and negative) and timing in his craft exceptionally well, be they in the slower tempo largely acoustic fare or the more expected faster paced numbers.

Particular stand outs here for me are the more acoustic ones, especially "Unbilo Titled" and "Unstookie Titled" as well as "Lost Art of Murder" (which he performed solo on Jonathan Ross a few months ago). Doherty's fragility seems to burn through these songs more than the others.

Of the more straight up bluesy rockers, I'm loving "Crumb Begging Baghead", "Baddies Boogie", "French Dog Blues" and "Deft Left Hand".

The 'Shambles even branch out into cool jazz territory with the loungey feel of "There She Goes", replete with an underlying rhythm provided by upright bass and brushed cymbals.

There's something for everyone here on Shotter's Nation, easily one of the best albums of the year.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Thank you Pete, Mick, Adam and Drew

First of all, those of you saying that it isn't very good have given it 4 stars, therefore it must be of a certain level of quality to give it such a high score.

I love this album; listening to it, you know that it's better produced and has a closer vision to the original libertines stuff, before they released any albums.

As a Pete fan, I feel so much pride and joy for what him and the band have achieved.

For those of you that despise Dohery, I dare you to buy the album out of curiosity. It's a delight!

Side of the Road has been criticised in NME's review, but I like that song, because it does remind me of Up the Bracket's garagey feel.

All of the songs are decent, but two that stick out for me at the moment are 'UnBiloTitled' and 'Baddie's Boogie'.

This is a more accessible album for those who are not quite accustomed with Pete's rough demos, which is why 'Down In Albion' was not received quite so well.

This is what Pete deserves to be remembered for!

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Good stuff but will we ever get a great Babyshambles album

At last Pete's got a producer who's cleaned things up a bit and it is a consistent album. There are some really good songs on this, and is more consistent than the 1st album, but there are no great songs that the 1st album had like Down in Albion, loyalty song, F Forever. If you could mix these 2 albums up and the Blinding EP we'd have had a great album - take your time next time Pete !!
