There's something a little odd in producing a soundtrack album of music that barely appears in the film, and where it does appear is generally played by Dylan himself. Still, what's here is good, servicable Dylan pastiche, with a good choice of songs.
It's a pity though that that's all it is. It's essentially an album of Dylan covers illustrating his strengths as a song writer. What would have been far more interesting though would have been giving the artists a freeer hand in interpreting the music. I'd rather hear Highway 61 revisited as Britpop Indie or Thrash Metal than someone doing a pretty good job of pretending to be Bob Dylan and The Band.
