A masterpiece of an album, beautifully understated, their voices a perfect match for each other.
Been a big led zep and robert plant fan for years and got this after seeing the gone gone gone video, didn't expect to like it this much or for it to be a consistent album...but thankfully I was wrong.
Don't be put off if your not a country/bluegrass fan as Alison Krauss's voice is near perfect as you could want here, and if you have heard some of her solo stuff and are worried about a twangy country voice ..then don't be as her voice is truly haunting on some of these tracks.
Roberts voice is a lot smoother than his led zepellin tracks and it's nice to hear some understated singing from him .
Some great harmonies and a good variety of tracks with some dating back to the 50's and 60's. BUY IT NOW

Raising Sand is a beautiful moving album.

I never thought I would hear Robert Plant doing country music. Plant's and Alison Krauss voices are a perfect marriage. I really was'nt sure if I was going to like this because I am a big Led Zeppelin fan but, I'm glad I did I love it. Plants voice is a lot softer then normal and if anything it really proves he has one of the best voices in rock. Alison Krauss voice reminds me alot of Dollys P. the Queen of country. Raising Sand will be a good cd to listen to on the beach this coming summer and chill out to. Befor you buy please make sure you like country music so that you are not disappointed thanks.

What else could you expect with Allison Krauss involved. Might just get those who have never heard her before to check out her other work. Robert shows a mellow and harmonious side too.

Album of the Year - more like the decade

Once in a very long time an album comes along that transends the bull and the hype. This one is a corker. Plant and Krauss have come up with possibly the best combination since Mr Bread and Mrs Butter first got together.
Great songs, subtle arrangements and two voices that intertwine as if they were created to sing together. Wholeheartedly recommended ******

Every song on here is a cover. Don't expect any Led Zep wailing here! It's not needed, as Plant & Krauss go together like strawberries and cream, each one enhancing the other's voice, and producing a sound so sweet, it has to be heard to be believed.

There's blues, rock, rock and roll, folk, country blues and various other genres. One of the strongest songs for me is "Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us" - a kind of ghostly musical composition of mad gypsy violin and banjos. Krauss's voice will leave you tingling all over.

"Please Read The Letter" is actually a cover from Plant & Page's "Walking Into Clarksdale" - but this version is so much better, slightly slower and much improved by the wonderful harmonies.

This album is well worth buying, it's original, well produced, and has something for everyone.

filled with different genres, classical, blues, country, and great vocals from both artists I highly recommend this album. I'd heard of Krauss but never had the pleasure really, I have no regrets listening to this album.
It is quite memorable, with something for everyone.
