This is a fantastic album that seems to have gone un-noticed by a lot of people. The songs are incredibly catchy and you start singing along with them after a few listens. I went to watch them at the Machester Academy and it was absolutely amazing. If you get the chance I wuld advise you to go and watch them because there is nothing quite like it. Buy this album now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an album...

After the release of their last cd, The Warriors Code, I thought that the Dropkick Murphys couldn't get any better - oh how i was wrong!
This album is relentless. It gives you everything you would want from a dropkick murphys cd, traditional irish folk songs, vamped up in the DKM stlye (Flannigans Ball,) tender ballads with heart and feeling (Fairmount Hill) and Balls to the wall, punk rock stormers (Vices and Virtues.)
If you're already a fan, then you're probably planning on getting this album anyway, but if you've stumbled accross this album, then I URGE you to buy it. I've not stopped listening since I got it.
10 out of 10!
Yet Another DKM Masterpiece

Having been a Murphy's fanatic from day one,i can not really review this Album against any of their other offerings, as i can not and never will compare any tracks off one album against any other album as in my eyes anything and everything released by the DKM's is just a masterpiece of pure class and this superb latest offering "The Meanest of Times" just follows majestically on from where the last Album "The Warrior's Code" signed off.The Murphy's are a good time party Punk rock band with tasty lashings and helpings of Irish Folk music thrown into the mix for good measure, this Album rocks along at the usual breakneck speed with all the hooks, choruses and Anthems that any top Rock band would gladly kill their Mothers to have.
Every Murphy's Album is totally essential to own and this one just majestically follows in the very same footsteps...."Buy!! - Buy!! - Buy!! - Buy!!" - "Buy!! - Buy!! - Buy!! - Buy!!"
The Best Yet

After hearing a few tracks from their new album on the microsite for this album, ww.themeanestoftimes.com/, i can genuinely say the Dropkick's are at the peak of their musical career.
After coming off the back of a rather dissapointing last album, the Dropkicks had ground to make up and they have done just that.
Still combining Irish Folk music and Punk Rock they have made a masterpiece that is definately their best work to date.
